Shelling out creativity at the Sanibel Community House

Mondays from 10am – 1pm at The Sanibel Community House

If you love seashells and art, the Sanibel Community House is the place to be.

Every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the “Shell Crafters” gather to turn treasures from the sea into one-of-a-kind works of art and they’re always looking for more volunteers.

These free lessons are open to everyone. All you have to do is cover the cost of materials, which range from just $5 to $10.

The shells are collected right from the beaches of Sanibel, and every piece created is made from donated items. These Shell Crafters have mastered the art of transforming shells into stunning designs.

From intricate bouquets that look like real flowers, to eye-catching jewelry and playful figurines. It’s all thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers who share their time, talent, and creativity with the community.

Each flower arrangement is a team effort. Some members craft individual flowers, while others arrange them into colorful displays. Every masterpiece made helps support the Sanibel Community House, as proceeds go right back into the organization.

If you want to see the Shell Crafters’ work in action, mark your calendar for their upcoming Arts and Crafts Fair on Nov. 15 and 16.

Whether you’re looking to learn, shop, or simply admire some sea-inspired creativity, this local tradition is a true Sanibel gem.

For those wanting to see more, WINK News reporter Bianca Smith can be caught live on The WINK Stop every weekday morning. She will be popping up across the community with fun stories and surprises, and welcomes emails for suggestions on where to visit next.
