The Community House is available to all members of the Sanibel Community Association for private events and functions. With its central location, convenient parking for guests, welcoming entrance patio, modern sound system & technical capability, large & flexible interior space, and a warm, inviting ambiance, The Community House will provide a charming setting for your event. Its well-equipped, commercial-level kitchen provides a caterer-friendly workspace to serve your guests.
Originally built in 1927 as Sanibel’s first community gathering place, The Community House has been expanded over the years and completely renovated several years ago, retaining its original “Old Florida” style.
Available rooms range from small to grand, so you can tailor the space to fit your needs and event budget. Moveable sound-proof walls allow for multiple events to happen at the same time; or by opening up the walls you can create one large open space of 5,750 square feet, the largest gathering place on the Island. The only limitation is your creativity! (As one example, a wedding ceremony could be held in one room, followed by dinner in another room, followed by music and dancing in a third room—all in one location.)
For those requiring even more space, large events at The Community House can extend to the grounds surrounding the building. Parking areas on the East, South & West sides can be used for outdoor exhibits such as art shows, arts & craft fairs, industrial exhibits, etc. (In these instances, event attendees use The Community House parking lot on the Northside of Periwinkle Way.)
Rental rates at The Community House are reasonable compared to other venues. Tables and chairs are available on-site and included in your rental, as are set-up and break-down services. In addition, linen service is available at a nominal rate.
Rentals at The Community House are available to all members of the Sanibel Community Association. Memberships run for a fixed period, Nov. 1 through Oct. 31.
