Together We Did It! We Are Mortgage Free!

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Thank You! It was nearly one year ago when we said, “Together We Can!”

Laurie & Bill Harkey had stepped up and donated $1,000,000 to the Sanibel Community Association towards our Hurricane Ian Recovery and Rebuilding efforts. The Harkey’s had then asked friends, residents, and neighbors to join them by donating and the “Harkey Challenge” was formed.

Along with Laurie & Bill, you joined them in helping the Sanibel Community Association raise the funds needed to rebuild the Historic Sanibel Community House and reopen our doors to our beloved Island Community. You came forward, heard their call and Together, We Did It!

We are so grateful to all of you who have proven repeatedly that community is so much more than a building; it is all of us, coming together to learn, meet new friends, see old friends, connect, reconnect, and support one another. Thank you for your unwavering support!

Close to 600 individual donors, local businesses, clubs, and nonprofits have contributed towards the Harkey Challenge Fund, which helped Sanibel Community Association cover costs that exceed insurance and sustain programming and staff during the past 18 months.
