Community House Parking Lot Gets Upgrade From Kiwanis Club

Finding a parking spot in the Community House grass parking lot (north side of Periwinkle) just got a bit easier, thanks to the Kiwanis Club. A work crew of volunteers from the Club gathered there on a recent Saturday morning to install new directional parking signs, provided by the Club. Placement of the signs is intended to help drivers navigate the lot, which can be confusing if you are not familiar with its layout. The Kiwanis members are familiar with the parking situation there, as they frequent volunteer to staff the lot during major events at the Community House facility.

The project is one of numerous community service projects Kiwanis volunteers implement during the year. Said Club President Jeff Blackman, “This project is just one of many we do to help out other Island non-profits and the community at large. It’s what we do. Our members get satisfaction from doing these projects and like to feel they are making a difference that benefits our unique way of life here on the Islands.”
