The Sanibel Community Association Partners with Beachview Tennis Club for Annual Tournament on Dec 6th and 7th🎾

Event Dates:
Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th

The Sanibel Community Association (SCA, The Community House) is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Beachview Tennis Club to produce an annual tennis tournament fundraising event. The 1st Annual SCA Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday, December 6, and Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Beachview Tennis Club (1101 Par View Drive, Sanibel).

This annual tennis tournament has been a long-standing event that has benefited various nonprofit organizations over the years, with SCCF being the most recent beneficiary in 2023. However, the tournament wasn’t held in 2022 due to Hurricane Ian, nor in 2024 due to the back-to-back storms that occurred. We are happy to bring it back in 2025 to continue the tradition, now with the Sanibel Community Association as the beneficiary of the event. Proceeds from the event will support Community House programs and activities.

The Community House would like to express its gratitude to the people who are supporting this tournament fundraiser with sponsorships. Terri Kuhl, island resident and long-time supporter of the Community House, stepped up as a Major Sponsor. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our active community of tennis players on Sanibel to support and highlight our beautiful Sanibel Community House,” Ms. Kuhl said. “Love-Love!”  Kourtly has very generously offered to be our t-shirt sponsor for the event. Barb Chappell will be our “Ace Sponsor,” which means that for every ace during the tournament (a serve that the receiving team cannot return), she will donate $100.

Lisa Newmeyer-Cochrane, local resident and active community member, plays a key role in organizing the tournament each year and is pleased to bring the partnership to the Community House. Toni Halski, owner of Beachview Tennis Club, generously donates his time to organize the tournament draws and offers the use of the tennis club for the event. “It is a fun event and I am happy to play a part in supporting a community organization,” said Halski.

On Saturday, December 6, the men’s and women’s doubles tournament will take place, with teams at the 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 levels. On Sunday, December 7, the mixed doubles tournament will be held, with the same levels. Entry fees for the tournament are $100 per person, or $150 per person if you are participating in both days’ events. All entrants receive t-shirts, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, as well as other refreshments. Winners and runners-up will receive commemorative trophies.

Community House Executive Director, Emily Ankerson, is thrilled about this new annual fundraiser. “ We are so lucky to have such a supportive community, and we are excited to have this new partnership to put on a fun event while raising funds for the Community House and its programs,” Ankerson said.

Ankerson, a tennis player herself, plans to participate in the tournament on a mixed doubles team with her husband, Sam Ankerson, Executive Director for the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum and Aquarium.
