Sanibel Captiva Audubon Society Mini-Lecture Series
The Sanibel-Captiva Audubon Society will present three lectures for the 2025 season.
The first one will take place on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. It will feature Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation Marine Lab Director Dr. Eric Milbrandt. He will provide an update on the area’s mangrove recovery and resiliency in response to large storm events like Hurricanes Charley, Irma, Ian and Milton.

“Eric is a wealth of information,” said SanCap Audubon President Adam Sauerland. “There are few people in the area who not only have the knowledge of mangroves that Eric does but has also personally experienced some of the worst storms the area has endured over the past 20 years.”
Dr. Milbrandt is the director of SCCF’s Marine Laboratory. His research includes water quality, harmful algae blooms, and the effects of seagrass and oyster reef communities. And his knowledge of keystone species, especially mangroves, is pivotal for the health of our estuaries for generations to come.
Seating opens at 5:30 p.m. A $10 suggested donation is welcome at the door. Questions can be emailed to san.capaudubon@gmail.com.
