The Kitchen Guild, a SanCap community group based around food and cooking recently held a class on jellies and jams. Here’s a peek into the happening from a Guild summary (e-mail to members that couldn’t attend, graciously provided by Salli Kirkland & Marge Meek)
The kitchen at the House was just short of being usable, so we held the Mimie’s Key Lime Jelly and Mango Jam class at the home of Salli Kirkland. With so many attending, it turned out to be crowded, raucous and fun. Mimie kept it all going and we each took home a jar or two. It showed that we want to cook and learn together and we can’t wait for the new kitchen at the House to have more of these sessions! We’ll get the recipes out soon. How about the rest of you…. Is there something you would like to teach us? The Kitchen Guild is a great way to get us home chefs talking.
Thanks to all who came. Share ideas with us and we’ll plan them into events!

The Guild is currently an in-person (and via e-mail) network with many members holding events and participating in fundraisers for the Sanibel Community Association, and specifically the new Culinary Education Center of Sanibel! The Kitchen Guild has been instrumental in producing the SCA event Cooking With The Islands’ Stars, as well as numerous other fundraising efforts aimed at establishing a full featured kitchen for the newly renovated Community House. Culinary education is a new focus for SCA, with the addition of the Culinary Education Center of Sanibel (aimed at youth culinary education and other community related events centered around culinary culture and instruction)
