DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Sanibel-Captiva Audubon Society will present three lectures for the 2025 season. \nThe first one will take place on Monday\, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at The Community House\, at 2173 Periwinkle Way\, Sanibel. It will feature Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation Marine Lab Director Dr. Eric Milbrandt. He will provide an update on the area’s mangrove recovery and resiliency in response to large storm events like Hurricanes Charley\, Irma\, Ian and Milton. \nDr. Eric Milbrandt\n\n“Eric is a wealth of information\,” said SanCap Audubon President Adam Sauerland. “There are few people in the area who not only have the knowledge of mangroves that Eric does but has also personally experienced some of the worst storms the area has endured over the past 20 years.” \nDr. Milbrandt is the director of SCCF’s Marine Laboratory. His research includes water quality\, harmful algae blooms\, and the effects of seagrass and oyster reef communities. And his knowledge of keystone species\, especially mangroves\, is pivotal for the health of our estuaries for generations to come. \nSeating opens at 5:30 p.m. A $10 suggested donation is welcome at the door. A native of southern California\, she attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Voice. She has written four novels in the Empress of Rome Saga\, and two books in the Italian Renaissance\, before turning to the 20th century with The Alice Network\, The Huntress\, The Rose Code\, The Diamond Eye\,  and The Briar Club.
