Join together for a delicious lunch\, inspiring speaker\, and the chance to connect with friends\, neighbors\, and fellow islanders. Mark your calendar for Tues.\, Feb. 11\, beginning at 11:00 am where guests will enjoy a complimentary lunch prepared by The Sanibel Deli\, while catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn\, laugh\, and share great moments together—bring your friends and family along for the fun! \n“Our monthly luncheons are more than just a chance to socialize—they’re an opportunity to enjoy engaging and informative talks from our amazing guest speakers!” shares Erika Arnowitz\, Senior Services Director at FISH. \nThe luncheon is held at the Sanibel Community House\, 2173 Periwinkle Way\, and a virtual option is available. Please note that meals are only provided for in-person guests. \n \nFISH is thrilled to welcome Larry Comstock from ECHO as the guest speaker for the February Friendly Faces Luncheon. ECHO\, a global Christian agriculture organization with over 50 years of impact\, is transforming lives by equipping small-scale farmers with the tools\, techniques\, and resources they need to combat hunger and malnutrition. \nComstock’s presentation will guide you through ECHO’s incredible history\, from its humble beginnings on five acres in North Fort Myers to its current role as a global leader with a 57-acre Global Farm and Regional Impact Centers in East Africa\, West Africa\, and Asia\, plus exciting plans for a new center in Central America. \nLearn about ECHO’s unique approach to fighting hunger\, including their training programs for aid workers and local farmer-pastors\, local seed banks\, and their extensive ECHOCommunity.org online network with nearly 20\,000 members worldwide. Larry will also share ways that Southwest Florida neighbors and friends can get involved with ECHO. \nLarry joined ECHO in February 2023\, after ten years in senior development positions at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and World Vision. Before that\, he had a long career in the financial services industry. He has seen first-hand the impact of Christian philanthropy and expertise on smallholder farmers and their families. He is also committed to Henri Nouwen’s approach to fundraising as ministry to both donors and beneficiaries.
